A dual-bell nozzle is an altitude-compensating nozzle that is an essential part of an engine, especially one designed to convert the high-temperature, high-pressure combustion gases efficiently into high-velocity exhaust to produce thrust in a rocket. Various studies have been conducted on nozzles, but a comprehensive review of the dual bell nozzle has not been conducted. It is proposed to conduct a review of the dual-bell nozzle. The research reviews highlighted the design, performance, experimental, analytical, and application studies conducted on the dual-bell nozzle. The study evaluates geometric sensitivity, transition behavior complexity, side-load challenge, and advanced thermo-structural materials, as these themes are of significant importance for the study, development, design, and manufacturing of dual-bell nozzle vehicles. It represents a well-validated concept with higher performance for next-generation aerospace vehicles.
